General Manager -Materials Testing

We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial General Manager – Materials Testing to lead our Italy based materials testing operations.

This executive role is responsible for the overall performance of the laboratory, including financial results, commercial growth, operational excellence, quality, regulatory compliance, and employee development.

The General Manager will drive the strategic direction of the laboratory while ensuring exceptional customer service and technical excellence across a broad portfolio of materials testing services. This position requires a proven leader who can successfully balance business growth with scientific integrity, fostering a high-performance culture that reflects Eurofins' commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality testing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Business Leadership

• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the esting laboratory.
• Assume full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility, including revenue growth, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Develop and execute business strategies that align with Eurofins' European growth objectives.
• Identify new market opportunities and expand the laboratory's presence within Italy and across Europe.
• Drive operational performance while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction and scientific excellence.

Commercial Development

• Partner with Business Development teams to increase market share and grow key customer accounts.
• Build long-term relationships with customers in aerospace, automotive, industrial manufacturing, medical devices, transportation, energy, electronics, and advanced materials.
• Support strategic proposals, pricing, and contract negotiations.
• Identify opportunities to expand laboratory capabilities and introduce new testing services.

Laboratory Operations

• Lead all daily laboratory activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable operations.
• Oversee testing services including:
• Mechanical Testing
• Metallurgical Analysis
• Failure Analysis
• Chemical Testing
• Corrosion Testing
• Environmental Simulation
• Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
• Improve laboratory productivity, capacity utilization, turnaround times, and operational efficiency.
• Implement Lean principles and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Master's degree or MBA preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience within materials testing, laboratory services, engineering services, manufacturing, or the Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) industry.
• At least 5 years managing multi-disciplinary laboratory operations with full P&L responsibility.
• Demonstrated success leading technical teams and driving profitable business growth.
• Experience working within ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories.
• Strong understanding of European industrial markets and customer requirements.
