Job Description
The European Acquirer Business Development team drives pan-European growth through close collaboration with strategic partners and internal teams across Visa, including sales, account management, product, finance, marketing, legal, and consulting. Success depends on understanding client needs, market conditions, and achieving shared goals.
We are seeking an Account Director to lead client engagement and maximize value for a key European regional client. This role is vital for client retention and account development within our expanding customer base. You will support a strategic client aiming to become a leading Pan-European payment technology provider. The role requires travel within Europe (20%) and is based in Milan. Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement account and portfolio strategies to support client retention, revenue growth, and profitability. Focus on managing the acquiring strategy across Europe for Visa’s largest Pan-European acquirer, coordinating with local account teams across all business lines—Acquiring, Issuing, Processing.
- Become a trusted advisor by understanding client business deeply and aligning solutions to their needs.
- Provide expertise on global payment processing, issuing, and acquiring solutions, advising on features and functionalities to support client strategies.
- Lead execution of Pan-European initiatives and incentive agreements in collaboration with functional and market leads.
- Collaborate with local account managers to align regional and market strategies, ensuring coordinated efforts.
- Prioritize initiatives across the region in alignment with market and functional leads.
- Act as a customer advocate internally, working with product management, support, sales, finance, and legal teams.
- Lead solution development to meet customer needs, coordinating internal resources.
- Conduct strategic customer meetings, including quarterly reviews and executive discussions, to communicate successes and gather feedback.
- Analyze customer performance metrics to provide strategic recommendations and process improvements.
This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing a mix of remote and office work, with an expectation of being in the office 2-3 days per week.
Qualifications
- Strong credentials in enterprise account management and payments industry expertise.
- Experience building relationships at the C-suite or board level with an impressive track record.
- Proactive, self-motivated, with a drive to initiate change and deliver results.
- Ability to influence and guide multiple internal teams within a matrix organization.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, listening, and questioning skills.
