Job Description Summary
The Global Process Engineer (GPE) will work closely with the Global Manufacturing Engineering Leader, primarily focusing on developing a strategy for capacity and CapEx aligned with long‑term customer demand and business objectives. They will analyze data and work cross‑functionally to implement proactive measures that improve processes. This person will also be responsible for cost reduction through standardization of equipment and processes, establishing standards, and ensuring adherence to these standards. They will be a focal point for new technology introductions, asset transfers, and new process introductions; inclusive of lead time, technology selection and recommendations for fixturing, tooling, process, control plans, and qualification of manufacturing assets. The GPE will coach and influence the dotted‑line organization comprised of factory manufacturing engineers across the Aero Alliance factories. Critical to the role is leveraging analytical skills, the lean methodology, and the guiding principle of creating process standards for equipment (“One Product One Process”) to drive SQDC in line with business and functional objectives. The candidate chosen for this position will acquire strong technical knowledge and extensive exposure to manufacturing, engineering, quality, and safe process development. The selected candidate plays a key role in the Aero Alliance business and in building a culture of inclusion, respect for people, and continuous improvement.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop a strategy for capacity & CapEx aligned with long‑term customer demand and business objectives.
- Develop robust processes for CapEx prioritization aligned with SQDC & business objectives.
- Maintain global capacity models for the Aero Alliance shops utilizing Takt Cycle charts.
- Coach teams to improve output (Takt Attainment) utilizing lean tools and principles of waste elimination.
- Ensure CapEx aligns with a 1P1P approach of global standardization.
- Partner with channels on the development of new repair processes and qualifications.
- Collaborate with teams to build out takt cycle charts and capacity models for all Aero Alliance shops.
- Lead investigations into failures and chronic issues, identifying root causes and implementing robust corrective actions to eliminate the problems from re‑occurring.
- Provide technical support & train local shops for CapEx, Capacity, and developing flow lines.
- Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stay informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Use a high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and construct recommendations. Use multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- Lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicate difficult concepts and influence others' options on particular topics. Guide others to consider a different point of view.
Additional Requirements
- Deploy lean principles, including 3P (Production Preparation Process), Total Productive Maintenance, Jidoka, PQ/PR, Takt Cycle, Standard Work, Value Stream Maps, Kaizen, 4D/8D/A3 Problem Solving, and Poka Yoke.
Required Qualifications
For US Candidates Only
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college.
- 7+ years of industrial experience in manufacturing or quality.
- 7+ years of experience in factory operations roles (Operations Leader, Manufacturing Engineer, Cell Leader, etc.) focused on SQDC, capacity, and capex (equipment procurement) with lean experience.
- Strong knowledge of engineering concepts and quality processes.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and schematics.
- Project Management skills and experience.
For Non‑US Candidates Only
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience.
- Significant years of industrial experience in manufacturing or quality.
- Significant years of experience in factory operations roles (Operations Leader, Manufacturing Engineer, Cell Leader, etc.) focused on SQDC, capacity, and capex (equipment procurement) with lean experience.
- Strong knowledge of engineering concepts and quality processes.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and schematics.
- Project Management skills and experience.
- Fluency in English in writing and speaking.
