Greenkeeper Assistant

DETAILS – Hospitality, Sports & Leisure is the platform responsible for managing Arrow Global’s Hospitality, Sports & Leisure assets in Portugal. It currently oversees several hotel units located in Vilamoura, Carvoeiro, Lagos, Albufeira and Madeira, as well as the largest golf portfolio in Portugal, including the golf courses in Vilamoura, PGA Aroeira Lisboa, Palmares and Vale Pisão. Internationally, DETAILS also manages two golf courses in Sicily, integrated within the Costa Ragusa destination. In addition, it is responsible for the management of the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre.

The Greenkeeper Assistant will be responsible for coordinating, supervising, and controlling golf course maintenance activities, ensuring efficiency and quality in accordance with required playing conditions and established standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, those described below, with strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and allocate daily work tasks and prepare staff schedules.
• Monitor task execution to ensure quality standards and deadlines are met.
• Operate specialized golf course machinery and equipment.
• Provide technical and operational training and guidance to the maintenance team.
• Oversee the correct use of machinery, tools, and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance, conservation, and safety.
• Collaborate with the Head Greenkeeper on strategic priorities and innovations.
• Report and address breakdowns, repairs, equipment replacement needs, or improvements.
• Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations.
• Prepare activity logs and reports.
• Perform operational tasks when necessary.

Key Qualifications:

• Proven experience in golf course or sports field maintenance.
• Experience in supervisory or leadership roles within operational teams.
• Knowledge and practice in operating and maintaining specialized golf course machinery.
• Techniques for preparing and maintaining greens, tees, fairways, and bunkers.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and application of plant protection treatments.
• Ability to organize logistics, tasks, and resource management.
• Leadership and team motivation skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organizational discipline and attention to detail.
• Proactive problem-solving abilities.
• Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors.
• Flexibility for weekend and holiday shifts.
• Italian fluency is a requirment
• Valid driver’s license.
