Chiesi Group has three production plants: Parma (Italy), the strategic hub for production and distribution, serving as an international supply center with exports to over 80 countries. Here, solid medicines such as tablets and dry powders for inhalers, solutions, and suspensions for inhalations, and sterile suspension vials for endotracheal administration are produced. In 2024, a new Biotech Centre of Excellence has launched in Parma, dedicated to developing and producing monoclonal antibodies, enzymes, and other proteins.
The Blois-La Chaussée Saint Victor plant (France) specializes in Dry Powder Inhalers and Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs), managing direct distribution to the French market and exports. Santana de Parnaiba (Brazil) produces pressurized solutions and suspensions for inhalation therapy (pMDIs) and nasal sprays for the European market. In 2025, a new facility in Nerviano (Italy) will focus on manufacturing carbon minimal inhalers, dry powder inhalers, and sterile biological products.
Following continued growth, Chiesi aims to strengthen the Global Engineering Department by introducing the Head of Design and Engineering Operations .
Main responsibilities
- Report to the Global Operational Engineering and Design Senior Director, leading Engineering Design Leads as technical authorities, delivering top-tier design activities within major strategic projects.
- Ensure a strong reference point for manufacturing sites in reliability engineering, maintenance, problem solving concerning process systems, utilities, and infrastructure.
- Maintain seniority in all design activities related to major projects, managing competence and capacity, with proper escalation governance.
- Lead technical support to manufacturing sites to maximize operational effectiveness.
- Ensure proper maintenance of industrial assets, aligning with market trends and technological advancements.
- Leverage leadership and expertise for troubleshooting and problem-solving across operational domains.
- Serve as technical authority for EHS and GxP compliance related to design engineering and operations.
- Provide leadership to underpin the global strategic plan with robust technical solutions.
- Monitor reliability KPIs across production sites, promoting excellence in lifecycle management of manufacturing assets.
Candidate Profile
- Master’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
- 8–12 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong record in project management and design engineering leadership for major projects, including leadership roles in pharmaceutical engineering operations.
- Expertise in pharmaceutical equipment, operational engineering, project management, plant reliability, troubleshooting/RCA, and Good Engineering and Manufacturing Practices.
- Strong strategic leadership, with a focus on people management and talent development.
- Data-driven decision-making skills and ability to work cross-culturally.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
