Piper Maddox are supporting a growing renewable energy IPP focused on utility-scale solar PV projects across Italy. With a 4.1GW pipeline in development and delivery, they are looking to hire a Head of Grid Connections to join their Engineering & Construction team.

Overview

This is a key role responsible for ensuring efficient, compliant, and bankable grid integration across solar PV and PV + BESS projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage grid connection processes for utility-scale PV and hybrid projects
• Act as main technical interface with Terna, DSOs, and authorities
• Perform and review grid studies (load flow, short-circuit, dynamic analysis)
• Ensure compliance with Italian grid codes (Terna, CEI, ARERA)
• Define MV/HV connection solutions, substations, and transformers
• Support permitting and coordinate EPCs, consultants, and suppliers
• Assess grid constraints, curtailment, and connection capacity
• Support integration of BESS systems

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical xdwybme Engineering
• 8+ years of experience in grid engineering (solar PV focus)
• Strong knowledge of the Italian grid and connection procedures
• Experience with Terna and/or e-distribuzione
• Familiar with tools such as DIgSILENT, PSSE, ETAP or PSCAD
• Fluent in Italian and English
