Head of IT Infrastructure & Cloud

For a leading international company operating in the loyalty marketing sector , we are looking for a Group IT Head of Engineering to join its Core Technology team.

Our client is a global organization that partners with major retailers and consumer brands to create innovative customer loyalty and engagement campaigns. Through technology, creativity, and data, they deliver large-scale promotional experiences across multiple international markets.

About the Role

As Group IT Head of Engineering , you will lead the organization's global infrastructure strategy, driving the transition to a cloud-first environment while ensuring secure, resilient, and high-performing IT services across the business.

This is a strategic leadership role combining technical expertise, infrastructure transformation, team management, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the transition to a cloud-first infrastructure model, defining architecture and delivery roadmaps.
• Manage regional and global engineering and infrastructure programmes.
• Oversee the implementation and support of IT systems, cloud and hybrid services, databases, and networks.
• Ensure the security, resilience, and performance of the global IT infrastructure.
• Lead and develop the Engineering team, setting priorities and driving successful delivery.
• Manage infrastructure projects, ensuring delivery within agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Coordinate engineering workloads, incident resolution, service requests, and project activities.
• Act as the main technical contact for infrastructure-related initiatives, collaborating with project, security, and IT leadership teams.
• Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of new technologies and operational best practices.
• Lead infrastructure transformation projects, including data centre migrations and cloud adoption initiatives.
• Oversee infrastructure lifecycle management, including monitoring, patching, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Manage technology vendors, managed service providers, and support contracts.
• Administer and maintain Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, VMware vSphere, Microsoft SQL Server, Exchange Online, and related platforms.
• Develop technical standards, documentation, and operational procedures to support security, resilience, and compliance.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure or systems engineering.
• Proven experience managing enterprise infrastructure projects within complex IT environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise with:
• Microsoft 365
• Active Directory
• VMware vSphere/ESXi
• Microsoft SQL Server
• Exchange Online
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, virtualization, and IT security.
• Previous experience leading technical teams and managing people.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience managing external suppliers and IT support contracts.
• Fluent in English and Italian .
• Ability to take ownership of a global IT infrastructure environment.
