ROLE SUMMARY:

The Head of Italian will lead the Italian curriculum development across the school, collaborating with the Leadership Team. The role involves implementing IB programmes effectively, ensuring curriculum alignment with the school's mission, vision, and values, with a focus on delivering excellent academic outcomes in Italian language & literature.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Management

  • Lead the Italian department and curriculum.
  • Share expertise on curriculum, assessment, and IB developments.
  • Model excellent teaching and support staff.
  • Collaborate with staff, students, parents, and administration.
  • Use data to guide interventions and track progress.
  • Support MYP/DP Coordinators with staff development.
  • Work with colleagues to strengthen programme continuity.

Teaching & Learning

  • Enhance academic standards and results.
  • Collaborate on curriculum development with MYP/DP Coordinators.

Assessment & Reporting

  • Lead assessments and review learning outcomes.
  • Ensure quality and consistency in reports and rubrics.

Resource Management

  • Manage departmental resources and budget.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory with SLT.

Professional Development

  • Promote relevant professional development for staff.
  • Identify and address team development needs.
  • Facilitate external networking and ongoing learning.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Proven experience in curriculum development leadership.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • IB MYP/DP experience preferred; IB educator qualification desirable.
  • Solid understanding of the Italian education system (Primary to Secondary).
  • Knowledge of assessment practices for 5° Elementare, Idoneità, and Terza Media.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to build positive rapport with students and colleagues while maintaining high standards.
