HEAD OF ORIGINATION - ENERGY SECTOR

Our client is seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Origination to lead the origination team in identifying, developing, and executing transactions across wholesale and bilateral markets. This senior role is pivotal to expanding their commercial footprint in Italy, securing long-term supply and offtake PPAs, BESS monetization structures and risk management services for energy producers and consumers, as well as fostering relationships with utilities, large industrial customers, generators, and renewable developers. The ideal candidate will bring deep market insights, a strong network, and a proven track record in structuring complex energy deals.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

• Define and execute the origination strategy aligned with the company’s trading, risk, and growth objectives
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing origination team
• Represent the company at key industry forums and build its profile in target markets

Business Development

• Identify and develop commercial opportunities with counterparties such as utilities, generators, corporates, and project developers
• Source and structure PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements), CPAs (Corporate Power Agreements), BESS tolling agreements, and structured hedges
• Develop and manage a strong pipeline of deals across multiple markets and timelines

Commercial Structuring

• Collaborate with internal teams (trading, risk, legal, finance, compliance) to structure and close complex power deals
• Assess creditworthiness of counterparties and coordinate credit arrangements
• Ensure commercial agreements are aligned with regulatory requirements and company risk limits
• Monitor regulatory, market, and policy developments affecting power and environmental markets
• Provide insight and feedback to trading desks to enhance portfolio optimization and strategy

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in energy markets, with at least 5 years in a senior origination or commercial role
• Proven track record in originating and closing structured power transactions (e.g. PPAs, CFDs, hedging solutions)
• Deep understanding of power markets (day-ahead, forward, balancing, ancillary services), renewable energy, and regulatory frameworks
• Strong network of industry relationships across utilities, corporates, and developers
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
