Role
We are looking for an engineer to be part of our Numerical Naval Architecture group; activities will be focused on, but not limited to, ship survivability modelling and analysis.
Specifically, the new hire will be trained to use a ship survivability code, build naval ship models for survivability studies, perform survivability analyses; he/she will be also involved in the implementation and testing of new features of the survivability code.
Another area of activity will concern global/local FEM analyses, including studies concerning air-blast, underwater shock & whipping.
The new hire will be part of a team of survivability and structural experts with different backgrounds and degrees of seniority and will be involved in both R&D projects and technical consultancy.
Key accountabilities
Ship survivability modelling and analysis.
FEM modelling and analysis.
Compilation of technical documents presenting and discussing the results of studies/numerical simulations.
Cooperation in the preparation of technical proposals for commercial jobs and research activities.
Participation in meetings with customers and project partners.
Education
Master Degree / PhD in naval architecture / mechanical / aerospace engineering or similar.
Skills and experience
Mandatory:
Experience/interest in the development, validation, industrial application of numerical methods.
An attitude to team working, problem-solving and supporting customers/project partners.
Good understanding of technical drawings (e.g. general arrangements).
Experience with at least one CAD environment.
A basic command of English, written and spoken.
Nice to have:
Experience with FEM codes, especially MSC Patran, Nastran and Marc Mentat
Experience with CAD codes, especially Rhinoceros or Microstation.
Naval architecture / mechanical design backgrounds.
Good command of English, both written and verbal.
