Inside Sales Account Manager

About the role
As Inside Sales Account Manager at Illumina, you will have ownership of inside sales across part of the region and will be responsible for implementing a strategy to develop existing accounts and source new ones. Working together with Field Sales and your Inside Sales Manager will maximize revenue on your territory.
Responsibilities
- Manage the customer sales process for the Mediterranean territory (e.g., Italy and Greece) via phone and email, and conduct field visits as required to advance opportunities.
- Meet sales targets and forecast accurately, maintaining up‑to‑date contact and opportunity information in the CRM database.
- Engage with existing customers and qualified leads, guide them to Illumina products that best meet their needs, coordinate with internal resources to address questions or objections, provide budgetary pricing, create and submit individualized quotes, and close the sales process through order receipt.
- Prospect new accounts individually or with the Lead Generation Specialist team to discover new opportunities.
- Collaborate with the wider sales team, including TAMs, ISAMs, Sales Specialists, and the Service Contracts team.
- Establish and maintain strong, positive, and productive relationships with customer accounts, including product end‑users, management, and purchasing contacts.
- Track and report all activities to managers.
Preferred Background, Skills, and Experience
- Fluency in English and Italian required; Portuguese and/or Greek considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of genetic analysis techniques (PCR / NGS / Sanger etc.).
- Ability to quickly grasp and master highly technical concepts and articulate them clearly to others.
- Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills—articulate and quick thinking.
- Team‑goal oriented with a focus on achieving team sales performance metrics.
- Detail‑oriented and able to focus in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proven successful sales experience with a technical product line a plus, but other sales experience will also be considered.
