Overview

Amazon is looking for a smart, motivated, and self-driven Supply Chain Manager to join our Global Direct Imports team for emerging countries as an Instock Manager. The Instock Manager will be responsible for driving purchasing, inventory planning and forecasting for multiple countries through Direct Import Supply Chains. This role involves driving initiatives to improve customer experience by collaborating across Retail, supply chain and operations. The candidate should excel in scalable process improvement, analytics, written and verbal communication, and be customer-obsessed. The role requires partnering across teams and leading as well as contributing to a range of topics outside core Instock Manager responsibilities.

Direct Imports is a strategic initiative for Amazon with long-term business impact and growth. This role will partner with teams across Amazon (Operations, Global Logistics, Supply Chain Technology, Retail and Finance) as well as external partners to support critical new business initiatives and drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the program. The successful candidate is an innovator, communicator, influencer and problem solver who works well in a fast-paced, ambiguous setting, demonstrating a strong technical skillset and a data-driven approach to solving complex problems across our Imports supply chain. This position offers opportunities to influence high-visibility/impact areas throughout the organization. It also requires superb business judgment, a track record of strong project delivery and relationship management, deep analytical acumen, and experience generating and managing forecasts, reports, and analyses. The role requires the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, demanding and often ambiguous environment with strong stakeholder management capabilities and bias for action."

Key responsibilities

  • Manage availability and inventory health including improving in-stock rates, inventory planning, vendor lead time, fill rate, unhealthy inventory and forecast accuracy for import selection.
  • Drive meaningful data-driven solutions to solve complex supply chain problems.
  • Create and run buying/forecasting scenarios and enable better buying decisions to ensure continuous improvement in the buying process.
  • Drive automation programs for Imports in emerging countries, including all relevant system developments.
  • Step-change vendors’ operational performance by acting as their internal consultant on forecasting, buying and operations domains.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with senior leaders of partnered vendors to grow and optimize the joint import business.

A day in the life

Your core responsibilities will include monitoring inventory health and adjusting buying/forecasting accordingly. You will also work with stakeholders in Canada, US, Mexico and MENA, taking inputs and pivoting priorities based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with Excel
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain, inventory management or project management
  • Bachelor’s degree or above
  • Fluent in English (speaking, writing, reading)
  • Experience with analytical tools and ability to dive deep into metrics and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of statistical inventory control principles
  • Experience with process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
  • Experience with working with complex data sets
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities
  • Experience with data and analysis tools including Microsoft Excel and SQL
  • Ability to operate both strategically and operationally
