Role: Lead Design Engineer – PV/BESS
Location: Rome, Italy (Hybrid/Flexible Working)
Salary: €40,000 + bonus - dependent on experience
Contract Type: Permanent or Freelance/Consultancy Option Available
An innovative renewable energy company focused on supporting the energy transition through sustainable engineering and regenerative energy solutions is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to strengthen its growing technical team.
This role will focus on the detailed and executive design of renewable energy projects, including utility-scale photovoltaic and agrivoltaic plants, commercial & industrial rooftop solar systems, and BESS installations.
You will work on EPC-ready projects and support technical delivery across permitting, procurement, construction, and stakeholder coordination activities.
Responsibilities
- Electrical design of PV, agrivoltaic, rooftop solar, and BESS projects across LV, MV, and HV systems
- Production of layouts, single-line diagrams, technical reports, and construction documentation
- Preparation of detailed and executive design packages for EPC contractors
- Technical coordination with clients, suppliers, and project stakeholders
- Support with technical proposals, supplier RFQs, and component selection
- Monitoring project progress and supporting site activities when required
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical, Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical design for photovoltaic projects
- Experience on utility-scale solar projects, ideally 10MW+
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, PVcase, and PVsyst
- Ability to produce technical documentation and electrical schematics
- Experience with rooftop PV, BESS, MV/HV connections, or substations is advantageous
- Fluent Italian required; English beneficial
