Lead Electrical Engineer – Data Centre
This role supports the delivery of a major data centre project where technical ownership, coordination, and precision are critical to success.
You will lead electrical engineering activities from design review through to commissioning, ensuring systems are fully coordinated, compliant, and delivered in line with programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review electrical designs and identify risks, gaps, and inconsistencies
- Validate cable sizing and ensure compliance with standards and best practice
- Manage technical submittals and drive approvals
- Track procurement, delivery, and verification of electrical equipment
- Represent engineering in supply chain and coordination meetings
- Maintain system trackers and ensure alignment with project schedule
- Work closely with BIM teams to ensure buildable and maintainable designs
- Coordinate with design teams, suppliers, and vendors to ensure system performance
- Conduct site walkdowns to verify installations against design
- Prepare and manage test packs, FTOPs, and O&M documentation
- Oversee specialist vendors during commissioning phases
- Support client handover and deliver training where required
Requirements
- Proven experience leading electrical engineering on major construction or data centre projects
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, installation, and commissioning
- Ability to identify and mitigate design risks early
- Experience managing vendors, supply chain, and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to perform in fast-paced, high-pressure project environments
