Lead Systems Engineer

This hydraulic design engineer position can be based out of Italy in the Bologna region or in Germany, Hamm but candidates must be able to go to site on a frequent basis.

As the Hydraulic design engineer within a supportive, forward thinking engineering team you will be responsible for the design, development, test and integration of excavator machine based hydraulic systems for world class material handling and off-highway construction machinery.

Your Role

• Full lifecycle hydraulic systems design from initial concept design to prototype
• 1D simulation & 3D design/analysis of hydraulic and powertrain systems within the machine
• Test, fault find and integration of hydraulics into machine to support prototype creation
• Support all hydraulic design and development activities within the team to create a fully working systems
• Choose, specify and size up off the shelf components to be integrated into the system

Your Background

• You will need very strong industry knowledge in excavator machinery hydraulic systems
• You will have worked on hydraulic design for construction or off-highway excavator machines
• Good understanding of hydrostatic drives, pumps, pressure valves, fluid flow control systems and circuit optimisation
• Good hands on test & development skills; willing to get hands dirty across all aspects of machine design and build
• Knowledge of 1D simulation tools would be beneficial – Catia, HyperWorks, AMESim, Powersim etc
• Degree qualified or equivalent in mechanical, mechatronics engineering or similar
