Lean Manager
Descrizione dell'offerta
InPost is a leading player in the consumer parcel delivery market. In Poland, they are successfully redesigning the last mile for e-commerce as the market leader. InPost covers the Italian market with a network of 5000 PUDOs (Pick Up and Drop Off points) and 4000 fully automated parcel lockers (that are accessible 24/7) enabling customers to collect, send and return parcels at their earliest convenience. The aim is to continue scaling InPost in the Italian market in a similarly rapid trajectory to that of Integer’s Polish home market. We’re passionate about our mission and products and our People are the reason we succeed. We’re looking for people with drive and curiosity, who will join us in re‑writing the norm!
Overview
The Lean Manager will be the operational engine of InPost Italia's continuous improvement agenda. Embedded across the national field network, this role drives efficiency in last‑mile delivery operations through lean methodologies, structured problem‑solving, and hands‑on process redesign. The ideal candidate combines analytical rigor with a field‑ready mindset — equally comfortable reading a process map and conducting a Gemba walk on a sorting hub floor.
Duties and responsibilities
- Design and implement lean improvement projects across the national last‑mile delivery network
- Lead end‑to‑end Kaizen events: scope, facilitate, measure, and sustain results
- Develop and maintain value stream maps (VSM) to identify waste and prioritisation opportunities
- Build and track KPI dashboards to measure improvement impact (cost per parcel, parcels per hour, productivity per courier/route)
- Introduce and standardise 5S, standard work, and visual management across operational sites
Last‑Mile Operations
- Analyse delivery network data to identify inefficiencies in routing, load plans, and courier productivity
- Partner with the Operations and Network teams to design and test improved delivery models
- Support capacity planning and peak‑season preparation through process simulation and scenario analysis
- Identify and reduce failure demand (failed deliveries, re‑deliveries, exceptions) through root cause analysis
Change Management & Training
- Build lean capability across field supervisors and depot managers through structured training and coaching
- Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure consistent rollout across all operational sites
- Act as an internal change agent: translate corporate improvement goals into field‑level actions
- Document lessons learned and contribute to InPost Italia's knowledge management framework
Reporting & Governance
- Report directly to the Head of Operations with regular project status updates and saving snapshots
- Contribute to QBRs (Quarterly Business Reviews) with improvement pipeline and financial impact data
- Align priorities with cross‑functional stakeholders: Logistics, Finance, IT, HR
What you need to succeed
- 3–5 years of experience in lean, continuous improvement, or industrial engineering roles
- Hands‑on experience in logistics, last‑mile delivery, courier networks, or supply chain operations
- Solid command of lean tools: VSM, 5S, Kaizen, PDCA, standard work, OEE
- Experience conducting Gemba walks and facilitating structured problem‑solving (A3, 8D, RCA)
- Data‑driven approach: proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets; ability to build and read operational dashboards
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Italy (up to 50%)
- Fluent in Italian and English (written and spoken — English is the business language for Group reporting)
Nice to have:
- Experience in e‑commerce logistics, parcel delivery, or OOH networks
- Familiarity with TMS, WMS, or route optimisation tools (e.g. Ortec, Paragon, EasyRoute)
- Experience working in a high‑growth, international scale‑up environment
- Basic SQL or Power BI skills for autonomous data extraction and reporting
Core Competencies
- Operational Execution: Delivers results in fast‑paced, field‑based environments
- Analytical Thinking: Translates data into clear, prioritised improvement actions
- Influencing Without Authority: Drives change across teams without direct line management
- Structured Communication: Presents complex topics clearly to both field and senior audiences
- Resilience & Adaptability: Navigates ambiguity and adjusts plans as the business scales
- Ownership Mindset: Takes end‑to‑end accountability for project outcomes
