Our Client is a leader in the renewable energy sector, specializing in solar and wind energy production, and is looking for a qualified


M&A Manager – Italian Market


to lead and execute its expansion strategy and accelerate its presence in Italy.

The role will report to the Head of M&A (France based) and will be supported, when needed, by the French HQ teams, including financial analysts for financial modeling activities.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategy & Market Positioning

  • In coordination with the global group strategy and the Head of M&A, define and drive the group's external growth strategy for the Italian market (technology mix, transaction type, partnerships etc)
  • Conduct ongoing market intelligence: local players, project pipelines, valuation benchmarks, regulatory developments (change of law, GSE, MASE etc)
  • Identify and secure suitable acquisition targets in line with the external growth strategy


Sourcing & Deal Execution

  • Build and maintain a strong local network: independent developers, infrastructure funds, law firms, advisers
  • Qualify M&A opportunities through initial technical, regulatory and financial screening
  • Lead preliminary negotiations (LOIs, term sheets) and manage end-to-end acquisition processes in autonomy through to signing, in close coordination where relevant with French HQ teams (legal, finance, technical)


Business Development & Representation

  • Represent the group to Italian institutional stakeholders, industry associations (Italia Solare, ANEV) and local authorities
  • Build the group's credibility and reputation in Italy as a serious, long-term renewable energy player


Required skills:


Education

  • Master's degree in engineering, business, energy law or equivalent


Experience

  • 7 + years of relevant experience including ideally 5+ years in the renewable energy sector in Italy
  • Proven M&A origination and execution track record: opportunities sourcing, deal structuring, valuation competitive process management, transaction documents negotiation
  • Deep knowledge of the Italian renewables market: key players, regulation (GSE incentives, permitting), valuation dynamics


Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of renewable energy project finance, CfD mechanisms and PPA structures
  • Ability to read and critically assess technical, legal and financial due diligence reports
  • Valuation: ability to review complex financial models and assess market valuation dynamics
  • Good working knowledge of Italian permitting procedures (VIA, autorizzazione unica, grid connection processes)


Soft Skills & Mindset

  • Entrepreneurial mindset: ability to generate deal flow and build market traction independently
  • Relationship skills — ability to build and maintain a network of advisers, developers and financiers
  • Analytical rigour and ability to prioritise in a high-volume deal environment
  • Comfortable operating as a 'one-person beachhead': strong autonomy with regular reporting to French headquarters, and ability to liaise with multiple functions within the group
