Purpose of the Job
The main purpose of the role is to provide technical support to maintenance activities (on site or by remote) on Trackside signalling products (switch point machines/axle counters) operated by the Alstom domestic and international Customers.
Position in the Organization
The position will be part of Services Signalling Business Unit Organization – Maintenance & Operations Team.
Network & Links
Internal relationships with other Alstom functions: System and Product Architects, PM, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Industrialization, Industrial Quality, Installation.
External relationships with Customer infrastructure operators / maintenance technicians.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Perform on‑site preventive/corrective technical maintenance, verifications, repair/settings;
Provide technical remote support for instruction, troubleshooting and assistance to customers;
Plan, prepare and/or instruct external training programs as required, to deliver product knowledge in the area of specialization;
Write technical reports, plan service stock materials, support bid team for service quotations;
Maintain a strong EHS mindset to assure Alstom and Country safety standards;
Cooperate within the Service Organization to develop digitalisation and process optimisation;
Provide customer feedback to improve products and meet customer needs;
Define and implement maintenance and technical assistance plans;
Support the Service organization in the definition of maintenance strategy in tenders and offers;
Cooperate with the product engineering team on return of experiences, definition of maintainability requirements during the product’s design phase, and support for constant review/enhancement of maintenance manuals.
The position requires availability to perform activities outside the site (~90 % of the time) in domestic/international areas and to support the customer during night activities on rail infrastructure.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or Technical High School Diploma in Mechatronic or Mechanical/Electrotechnical engineering with experience.
Knowledge of mechanical/electrical/electronic design principles and methodology;
Basic knowledge of the most common operating systems;
MS Office knowledge & Autocad proficiency;
Capability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and schemes;
Capability to use test tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.);
Knowledge of railway signalling systems and principles will be a plus;
Drive license, necessary to drive company cars;
Capability to perform analysis and relate information from different contexts;
Capability to work in a team, abroad or in‑house environment;
Capability and attitude to problem solving;
Capability to work under stress and urgency conditions.
Experience
At least two years of experience in an electromechanical–electronic company as onsite or remote technical assistance is desirable.
Field service on signalling equipment is a plus.
Languages
Italian: mother language, excellent level written and spoken;
English: good level written and spoken.
