Job Location: Parma, OH. Onsite: 5 days a week (Mon‑Fri), first shift.

Role Overview

This role entails maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing LAN network systems and associated hardware, including computing systems and peripherals. The candidate will also document, maintain, upgrade, and replace hardware and software components, and coordinate IT operations affecting GM's business processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Support GM managed Cisco LAN and WAN network infrastructure; configure and troubleshoot switch, AP, and WhereNet hardware.
  • Maintain and configure network devices, including wireless network and end device replacement.
  • Support VoIP and analog phone devices.
  • Perform and support network change controls as required.
  • Configure network switch ports for IT devices.
  • Apply troubleshooting skills for Layer1‑4 switching and routing.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities that affect IT operations within GM Manufacturing.
  • Build relationships with plant maintenance, engineering, vendor teams and other cross‑functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities (Summary)

Strong analytical ability, independent judgment, troubleshooting, problem‑solving, communication skills, and the ability to lead complex projects and assignments.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in IT with Cisco LAN and WAN networks.
  • 3+ years' experience supporting end‑user devices (PCs, printers, scanners, mobile phones, tablets).
  • Associate's degree or higher (minimum).
  • Knowledge of client hardware repair, operating systems (Windows 7, 10), Microsoft Office suite, Active Directory basics.
  • Familiarity with remote PC management tools (VNC, VPN, RDP, Bomgar, Skype).
  • Ability to climb ladders and perform physical tasks up to 25 lb.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes (incident, change, asset, release, service request, service desk).
  • Knowledge or basic understanding of server or virtualization (VMware) and monitoring tools (SiteScope, HP‑OM) preferred.
