Marine Surveyor Job Summary
We are urgently seeking an experienced Marine Surveyor to join a high-profile newbuilding project at a shipyard in Genoa, Italy. In this critical on-site role, you will act as the primary technical liaison between the shipowner and the shipyard, overseeing all aspects related to the LNG cargo and fuel systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in LNG ship construction, a thorough understanding of international compliance standards, and the ability to maintain quality and schedule integrity. Immediate availability is preferred due to the urgent nature of the assignment.

In this critical on-site role, you will act as the primary technical liaison between the shipowner and the shipyard, overseeing all aspects related to the LNG cargo and fuel systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in LNG ship construction, a thorough understanding of international compliance standards, and the ability to maintain quality and schedule integrity. Immediate availability is preferred due to the urgent nature of the assignment.
Marine Surveyor Responsibilities
- Represent the Owner’s interests at the shipyard, managing day-to-day technical oversight.
- Supervise construction activities specifically focused on LNG cargo handling and fuel systems.
- Ensure shipyard activities comply with RINA-approved design specifications and Subchapter M standards.
- Monitor and certify project milestones, verifying adherence to technical specifications, timelines, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, shipyard personnel, and the classification society (RINA).
- Perform technical inspections and proactively identify, report, and resolve non-conformities.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Owner’s site team and headquarters.
- Support internal project reviews, offering critical feedback and recommendations to optimize technical outcomes.
- Maintain strict alignment with the Owner’s standards, ensuring project decisions always reflect the Owner’s best interests.
- Note: This role does not include plan approval responsibilities
- Extensive hands-on experience in LNG shipbuilding, retrofitting, or related maritime construction projects.
- Prior experience acting as an Owner’s Representative, Shipyard Supervisor, or LNG Project Manager is highly desirable.
- Strong familiarity with LNG systems, international maritime regulations, RINA rules, Subchapter M standards, and shipyard operations.
- Solid technical understanding of marine engineering practices and ship construction processes.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written) is required.
- Italian language proficiency is an advantage but not mandatory.
- EU citizenship or current legal authorization to work in Italy is required.
