Job Description Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self‑motivated Mechanical Engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The successful candidate will work in the Rolling Stock Engineering Department and may be based in Pistoia or Napoli – IT.
Accountabilities
Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS) for mechanical components
Analyze and assess technical documentation from suppliers
Prepare and verify mechanical installation/integration drawings/specifications
Conduct design reviews (internal and with suppliers) under the supervision of Engineering Managers and Project Engineers
Attend system stand‑alone type tests and review type test reports
Support manufacturing, testing and validation phases
Review design documentation with customers and suppliers
Prepare structural drawings (carbody shell, bogie frames, mechanical components)
Prepare equipment layout and mechanical routing drawings
Prepare Bill of Materials (BoM)
Ensure compliance with input requirements, international railway regulations, standards and project constraints (time, cost, quality)
Prepare documentation required for vehicle approval and support homologation phase
Required Skills / Knowledge
3–5 years of experience in the railway sector or complex industrial environments
Good knowledge of main railway regulations and standards
Experience with IBM DOORS requirements management tool
Familiarity with engineering processes and railway operations
Strong mechanical discipline knowledge (installation, interfaces, component design, etc.)
Knowledge of design verification and validation methodologies
Proficiency with mechanical CAD systems (Catia or Creo preferred)
Understanding of piping systems, fittings and joint design methodologies
Experience with noise/vibration modelling and assessment of mechanical components
Knowledge of welded structure design rules and standards (EN 15085)
Familiarity with PLM systems (Windchill preferred)
Proficiency with office automation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast‑paced, international and multicultural environment
Strong planning and organizational skills, team‑working and problem‑solving mindset
Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers, partners, customers)
Ability to work within project teams under minimum supervision
Availability for occasional short‑term national and international business trips
Desired Skills / Knowledge
Knowledge of railway vehicle running dynamics performance assessment
Fast learner with strong willingness to stay up‑to‑date with technological developments
Good business acumen combined with solid technical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Education / Qualifications Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical disciplines mandatory).
Languages Knowledge of written and spoken English (at least B2 level).
Benefits Retribuzione annua lorda compresa tra 36.000 € e 46.000 €.
Alla posizione si applica il vigente CCNL per l’industria metalmeccanica privata e l’installazione di impianti, con inquadramento nel livello B2, ai sensi della relativa disciplina di classificazione del personale.
