Role description

The Mechanical engineer combines the technical expertise of mechanical design with the organizational and leadership responsibility of project management, being tasked with both innovative mechanical design systems or products and overseeing the successful completion of design work from start to finish.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Design work:

  • The mechantronics enigineer designs mechanical (Mechatronic) systems or products. This involve using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to create detailed 2D or 3D models of components and assemblies.
  • Take care of the feasibility analysis and development of new products
  • Make cost estimation for new design, in cooperation with Procurement and Production offices
  • Create specification for supppliers.
  • Support the suppliers with design changes/improvements
  • Developing prototypes, testing them, and refining the design based on performance or user feedback.
  • Choosing appropriate materials that balance cost, durability, weight, and functionality. Develops and maintains the Bill of materials (BOM’s)
  • When necessary he should be able to performing stress, thermal, and fluid flow analyses to ensure the designs are robust and can handle real-world conditions (manually or using FEA tools like ANSYS).
  • Creating technical drawings, specifications, and manuals, ensuring that the designs meet regulatory and safety standards.
  • Provides support to the Customer Care in case of issues or Service activities

Project management:

  • Executing the projects on time, within the budget. In case of issue or delay propose the corrective actions or update the stakeholders regarding the status.
  • Coordinating with other departments (e.g., electrical engineers, manufacturing teams) to ensure that all necessary resources (materials, personnel, tools, etc.) are available and efficiently used.
  • Leading a project team of designers, engineers, technicians or external suppliers to ensure that everyone is aligned with the project goals. Ensuring smooth communication and collaboration between departments and stakeholders.
  • Managing the project budget and ensuring that the project stays within financial constraints. This involves cost estimation, tracking, and sometimes negotiation with suppliers or contractors.
  • Identifying potential risks (e.g., delays, supply chain disruptions, design flaws) and proactively developing mitigation strategies (DFMEA / PFMEA) to minimize project disruption and mitigate risks.

Final delivery:

  • Once the design is finalized and approved, the mechanical engineer ensures that the product is ready for manufacturing. This includes handing over detailed specifications, drawings, and any necessary production instructions.
  • After the product has been delivered (FAT), the project manager may oversee post-delivery support (SAT), including troubleshooting, customer feedback, and potential design revisions or upgrades.

Education and experience

  • Degree in Industrial Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or similar technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical office environment, including team leadership.
  • Knowledge about safety standards in machine design.
  • Knowledge about main mechanical machining processes, pneumatics, hydraulic and electric subsystems.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling (preferably Autodesk Inventor) and simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with tools like MS Project, Jira, or Trello to track progress, allocate resources, and manage timelines.
  • ERP systems.
  • MS office Tools.
