  • To strengthen our Operation Italy Team, based in our affiliate in Milan, Italy, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Medical Affair Head Italy .

    As our Medical Affair Head Italy, you will work in an environment where you can:

    - Be accountable for medical affairs excellence oversight and governance for the assigned country.

    - Enable a consistent and high standard design & implementation of therapeutic areas cross-functional plans by fostering a culture of medical and scientific rigor.

    - Partner with Therapeutic Areas Heads and their teams (immunology, neurology, rare diseases, established brands) to connect therapeutic areas' value creation with medical excellence frameworks and processes.

    You will also have the ability to drive:

    • Medical excellence and consistency in capabilities, processes, and skills across the country organization.
    • Scientific integrity and compliance.
    • A strong understanding and partnership with local healthcare ecosystem actors.

    You will contribute by:

    • Being a member of the country Leadership Team (LT), leveraging regional and global medical initiatives to meet local business needs while maintaining an enterprise view.
    • Overseeing and proactively contributing to therapeutic areas and assets strategy in collaboration with cross-functional leadership/teams, ensuring country plans and medical deliverables align with UCB global standards and regional/local requirements.
    • Managing all aspects of medical governance for the country and participating in strategy, medical plans, initiatives, and training development.
    • Fostering a culture of medical & scientific rigor as a key driver of asset value within Medical and organization-wide, in partnership with Therapeutic Areas Heads.
    • Establishing and maintaining the scientific image and reputation of the company, acting as a bridge between science and business.
    • Leading medical capability excellence to deliver value ethically across the medical community.
    • Serving as the key contact for clinical development & operations topics at the country level across the portfolio, with proactive oversight of the clinical environment.
    • Participating actively in launch readiness and pipeline asset preparation plans.
    • Contributing to global Medical Affairs capability building with local insights and expertise.
    • Overseeing compliance and regulation frameworks for business execution, ensuring adherence to laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, and managing risks.
    • Providing MA value metrics, quality assurance controls, and operational assessment plans.

    Interested? For this position, you’ll need the following education, experience, and skills:

    • Significant experience in Medical Affairs within large, medium, or startup pharma companies.
    • Experience with drug launches in rare diseases (e.g., IPF) or crowded markets (e.g., multiple sclerosis).
    • Experience in pharma development, especially in building new therapeutic areas (e.g., SMA, PD, AD, HD).
    • Leadership skills with the ability to influence peers.
    • Emotional intelligence and a caring attitude.
    • Goal orientation and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work under stress and tight deadlines.
    • Teamwork and relationship-building skills.
    • High standards of ethics and compliance.
    • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment.
