TE Connectivity is seeking a Mold Designer to join our team within the Global Automotive business. The role focuses on designing and developing tools for liquid silicone processes. The Mold Designer will ensure tool performance and efficiency by driving design improvements, upgrading and updating technical drawings, and maintaining complete technical documentation. This position plays a key role in enhancing production output both in quality and quantity in alignment with the company’s strategic goals and objectives.
Your main tasks
- Design and develop LSR tools, including demolding robots and related equipment, ensuring functionality and efficiency.
- Create accurate 3D models, drawings, and assembly layouts for tooling and mold sub-assemblies.
- Manage and maintain CAD models, drawings, and revision history using PDMLink.
- Provide technical documentation and support to suppliers to ensure correct interpretation of construction drawings.
- Analyze production mold issues, define corrective actions, and oversee implementation to improve efficiency.
- Conduct simulation analyses using software such as ANSYS, Moldex3D, CLS, Generative Design, and Sigmasoft.
- Contribute to cross‑functional problem‑solving, PFMEA development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support tool debugging and validation activities until process release.
Your ideal background
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 1 year of experience in LSR tool design and development within a manufacturing or tooling environment.
- Knowledge of silicone materials and processes, LSR tool systems, demolding robots, and steel material selection is considered a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with injection core technologies and related manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD systems (CREO) and basic knowledge of simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, Moldex3D).
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office.
- Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently while also thriving in a multicultural team environment.
