What you'll do:

  • Oversee the daily management of the fleet IT infrastructure, including monitoring servers, storage solutions, network devices, and applications across both on-premises and cloud platforms to ensure optimal performance.
  • Respond promptly to helpdesk incidents and service requests during and outside office hours, providing dependable support to maintain uninterrupted business operations.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain hybrid cloud strategies by integrating existing infrastructure with cloud services for enhanced scalability and resilience.
  • Administer Windows Server 2022 environments with responsibilities spanning Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, File Servers, IIS, Certificate Authority, WSUS, WAN/LAN/WLAN services.
  • Design and manage LANs, WANs, VPNs, Firewalls (including SD-WAN), Switches, Access Points, ensuring robust network security and availability.
  • Implement comprehensive backup solutions and disaster recovery plans; conduct regular failover tests to guarantee data integrity and business continuity.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and enforce cybersecurity best practices to safeguard systems against emerging threats.
  • Provide technical guidance to end users on Windows 10/11 systems; document issues thoroughly while communicating progress clearly and empathetically.
  • Lead or participate in IT improvement projects aimed at upgrading key systems or introducing new technologies that align with organisational goals.
  • Collaborate closely with remote teams as well as local management to resolve technical challenges efficiently while promoting knowledge transfer.

What you bring:

NOTE: MUST COME FROM THE MARINE / NAVAL INDUSTRY AND WILLING TO RELOCATE IN GENOVA, ITALY

  • Demonstrated experience (4-5 years) ion the marine sector supporting enterprise IT systems including Windows Servers (Active Directory, Group Policy), virtualisation platforms such as Hyper-V, networking hardware (Firewalls, Switches), VSAT/Starlink connectivity solutions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of server administration tasks including configuration of DNS/DHCP/File Servers/IIS/Certificate Authority/WSUS within Windows Server 2022 environments.
  • Proficiency in designing secure LAN/WAN/VPN architectures; hands-on experience configuring firewalls (including SD-WAN), switches, access points for high availability networks.
  • Expertise in endpoint protection strategies as well as implementation of backup/disaster recovery solutions; proven track record conducting regular failover tests.
  • Familiarity with cloud security principles; ability to integrate on-premises infrastructure seamlessly with public or private cloud services using hybrid models.
  • Strong communication skills enabling effective collaboration with non-technical stakeholders; adept at documenting processes clearly for future reference.
  • Ability to diagnose intricate infrastructure issues quickly while remaining calm under pressure during system failures or cyber incidents.
  • Experience running employee induction programmes or delivering user training sessions related to IT systems usage or security awareness initiatives.
  • Degree or diploma in Information Technology/Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience within similar roles.
