THE ROLE

Operation Technology Expert Industry 4.0

The person in this role will coordinate efforts to design architecture and plan execution related to all IT/OT hardware and software solutions in manufacturing, defining strategic approaches in partnership with Business peers and the Central Advanced Manufacturing & I4.0 team.

This role covers software and IT/OT solutions applied to manufacturing, such as MES, CMMS, Quality Software, Utilities Monitoring Software, preventive maintenance tools, and machine connectivity/OT topics.

The Operation Technology Expert Industry 4.0 is an experienced problem-solver in shop floor digitization and machine connectivity, with significant experience implementing these solutions in industrial environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define architecture and strategic roadmap for Xylem's shop floor digital ecosystem, including machine IoT, connectivity, and networking.
• Assess emerging technologies related to shop floor digitization and machine connectivity to guide current and future programs.
• Share best practices, create playbooks, foster benchmarks, and generate innovative ideas through initiatives like creating a Xylem Community of Practice / CoE.
• Promote a One Company culture and collaborate with broader IT functions and other teams.
• Manage vendor and partner relationships to create enterprise synergies.
• Participate in Factory 4.0 initiatives and the CoC steering committee.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• 10+ years of business experience in a global/international company, covering roles in IT/OT, infrastructure, network, and IoT.
• Broad understanding of system architecture, data structures, analytics, networking, and cybersecurity.
• Experience designing and implementing IT/OT ecosystems for multi-site, brownfield manufacturing environments.
• Proven track record in Digitization and Industry 4.0 projects, including software implementation (MES, CMMS, Quality Software, Utilities Monitoring Software), machine connectivity, and digital technologies (Automation, Robotics, 3D printing, RFID, AR/VR).
• Ability to execute practically and think strategically with top leaders.
• Experience managing enterprise programs and initiatives.
• Experience with ThingsWorx by PTC is a plus.
• Hands-on experience on the shop floor working with engineers, technicians, and operators.
• Basic knowledge of system architecture for big data platforms.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION

• BSc & MSc in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields.
