ING Bank N.V. is looking for a Junior Network Engineer to join the Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will support the management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementation of enterprise network and security infrastructures, contributing to the reliability, performance, and security of the Bank's network environment.
Activities
Monitor and manage network infrastructure environments.
Support the configuration and maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
Troubleshoot network connectivity, routing, switching, and security-related issues.
Support infrastructure implementation and change activities.
Manage incidents, service requests, and change tickets using ServiceNow.
Produce, update, and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.
Create and update network diagrams, data center layouts, and logical/physical topology documentation using Microsoft Visio.
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure service continuity and infrastructure improvements.
Responsibilities
Ensure the proper operation and availability of network and security services.
Perform first and second-level troubleshooting of network incidents.
Support firewall policy implementation and VPN connectivity management.
Participate in change management activities according to ITIL processes.
Maintain accurate network documentation and architecture diagrams.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and infrastructure optimization projects.
Escalate critical issues when required and support resolution activities.
Ensure compliance with internal security standards and operational procedures.
Required Skills
Experience of at least
1-3 years
in a Network Engineer or similar infrastructure role.
Ability to manage critical situations through good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent field.
Good knowledge of the English language (minimum B1 level), both written and spoken.
Solid understanding of:
TCP/IP
Routing and Switching
VLANs
DNS, DHCP, NAT
Basic BGP knowledge
Knowledge of network security concepts:
Firewall policy management
Access Control Lists (ACLs)
Site-to-Site and Remote Access VPNs
Familiarity with:
Check Point Firewalls
Data Center and Enterprise Network environments
Basic knowledge of:
F5 BIG-IP
Layer 4 and Layer 7 Load Balancing
Virtual Servers, Pools, and Health Checks
Experience with IT Service Management processes and ticketing systems, preferably:
ServiceNow
Knowledge of Microsoft Visio and technical documentation standards
Familiarity with network monitoring tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent networking certification.
Experience with network monitoring and performance analysis tools.
Understanding of ITIL processes and best practices.
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving attitude.
Teamwork and collaboration skills.
Proactive mindset and willingness to learn new technologies.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage incidents effectively.
Attention to detail and documentation quality.
Contract Offer Working conditions:
Fixed-term employment contract - Maternity Leave
Working hours:
Full time (37 hours per week)

Variable remuneration:
