WHIWH CHC provides racialized women, trans, and non-binary clients from the African, Black, Caribbean, Latin American, and South Asian communities in Toronto and surrounding municipalities with culturally safe, relevant, and responsive primary healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Provides family-oriented medical care in a multi-disciplinary team, on or off site by: Interviewing/history taking.
- Examining, assessing, and treating patients.
- Maintaining accurate records.
- Providing supportive counseling and psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
- Teaching on health and lifestyle matters in a non-judgmental manner.
- Referring to specialists, hospitals or other agencies as required.
- Advocating for patients with other medical workers, agencies or institutions.
- Supervising other medical personnel within the team.
- Providing after-hours medical care for WHIWH-CHC clients in rotation with other MDs.
- Ensuring standards of patient care are maintained according to accepted medical standards and WHIWH-CHC policy.
- Advocating on health and related matters on a larger front for the community as appropriate.
- Recognizes and implements the educational component of Primary Health Care by supervising and evaluating Medical Residents with other members of the Clinical Team.
- Assists with the administrative tasks of WHIWH-CHC and the Primary Care Team by: Participating in data collection and analysis and ongoing monitoring and evaluation of WHIWH-CHC programs for various purposes (e.g. program planning, research, etc.).
- Participating in planning and evaluation of WHIWH-CHC programs and activities.
- Participating in Peer Review.
Qualifications
- Medical degree from a recognized university.
- CCFP Certification or equivalent practical experiences, an asset.
- General license to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
- Additional training and/or experience in an area relevant to the Centre’s services is an asset.
- Two+ years primary care experience; preferably in a community health setting.
- Knowledge of women’s health issues.
- Understanding of Anti-oppression principles.
- Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation is an asset.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications.
Reporting
This position reports to the Director of Primary Healthcare Services.

Compensation
$199,180 based on 0.6 FTE (3 days per week)
