Danieli Automation, company of Danieli Group, is a global technology partner in the metals industry, specialized in production management, process automation, advanced instrumentation and electrical systems.
To strengthen our engineering team, we are looking for a Process Control Specialist focused on the development of mathematical models for Level 2 automation systems, supporting metal plants worldwide in process optimization and digital transformation.
The selected candidate will be involved in the design, development and commissioning of advanced process control solutions for metallurgical plants, with particular focus on Level 2 systems for Hot and Cold Flat Products. Key activities include:
- Development of mathematical and physical models for Flat products industrial processes such as:
- Cold & Hot rolling mills
- Cooling & heat treatment lines
- Cold & Hot plate levelers
- Design of algorithms for:
- Process setup calculation
- Rolling / flatness models
- Thermal evolution prediction
- Production scheduling and optimization
- Adaptive control strategies
- Integration of models into real-time Level 2 automation architectures
- Collaboration with process and mechanical engineers, software developers and commissioning teams during design and startup phases
- Participation in R&D projects with universities and research centers
Required
- Strong knowledge of mathematical modelling, numerical methods and control theory
- Knowledge of physics, mechanics and thermodynamics
- Basic knowledge of statistics
- Experience in at least one of the following languages:
- C++
- C#
- MATLAB / Simulink
- Python
- Familiarity with Process data analysis
Appreciated
- Knowledge of metallurgical or manufacturing processes
- Experience with:
- Digital Twin concepts
- Machine Learning applied to industry
- Software Version control systems and Life-Cycle Management
Education
- Master's Degree in:
- Automation Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Applied Mathematics
- Physics
- Computer Science Engineering
- PhD in control systems, process modelling or industrial automation is a plus
Languages
- Good knowledge of spoken and written English (B1 at least)
