Procurement Lead (NPDI)

Vertiv is hiring a Procurement Lead to support New Product Development. As a member of the Americas Procurement Team, the person will lead the sourcing activities for an assigned Line of Business. This position will be the designated point of contact managing all sourcing activities related to new product introduction, product cost reductions, production transfers, supply chain design, and time to market. Working closely with Engineering and Commodity teams to monitor critical prototype parts, identify e-Auctions opportunities, perform risk & resiliency assessments, and report status based on KPIs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage procurement deliverables as new products transition from ideation to pilot and mass production, ensuring speed, quality, and performance to exceed customer expectations.
- Integrate with Engineering project teams to ensure parts are sourced from preferred suppliers, BOM and CapEx costs meet business needs, supply chains deliver on market demands, maximize dual sourcing, and ensure material and supplier readiness for development milestones, eliminating supply issues before mass production.
- Develop prototype strategies with engineering and buyers for quick turnaround, analyze tooling needs and costs.
- Review supplier proposals, make recommendations, and coordinate with regional/global procurement to mitigate supply risks.
- Own purchase BOM cost reporting, track cost changes, and participate in component reduction activities to stay below target prices.
- Host sourcing reviews for critical projects, follow up on actions, and ensure timely completion.
- Ensure accurate reporting of procurement KPIs and drive improvements; complete procurement gate deliverables during new product development and provide procurement input in gate reviews.
- Lead or participate in NPD/NPI review meetings and coordinate launch plans with EMS suppliers to meet schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Level
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, Supply Chain Operations, or Business.
Minimum Years of Experience
5-7 years in supply chain, engineering, or related fields.
Special Skills
- Strong supply chain and engineering background, with experience in NPI, project management, industrialization, etc.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and BOMs.
- Proficiency in managing multiple projects, teamwork within procurement and cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of supply chain and procurement strategies, Vertiv’s market, and industry standards.
- Ability to build partnerships with suppliers and lead in complex, international, cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in large matrix organizations, willing to work across time zones.
- Adaptability to change and continuous improvement processes.
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, ERP, and PLM tools.
