The Procurement Project Manager EMEIA is responsible for creating and continuously improving the Global Project Management Office (PMO). This office provides oversight, tools, processes, cadence, metrics, KPIs, reports indicating project health, facilitates project board review meetings, capability building, and escalation processes to ensure efficient, effective, and successful project execution.
The role involves using GEP (Xylem’s e-procurement suite) as the primary data source for project identification and high-level tracking. The manager is expected to utilize professional project management tools and templates to train others and act as the process expert in project management tool use.
The Procurement Project Manager collaborates with the Process Excellence Team and the Global PMO in XGP. They manage procurement initiatives from ideation through realization, especially those with broad regional or global impact, high spend or savings potential, and risk mitigation, as assigned by XGP leadership.
The role
- Develop the cadence for regular project reviews of procurement projects, including methodologies to identify high-impact projects, development of templates and metrics, escalation triggers, and utilization of GEP tools for system metrics.
- Coach and support users in system tool compliance, provide management reports on project health and efficiency.
- Manage project details using project management tools, lead creation of project plans for high-impact projects, and collaborate with category managers.
- Define project plans with stakeholders, drive project execution, and build project management capability across the organization.
- Implement progress updates, project tracking, action item registers, flags on plans, and escalation protocols.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including internal teams and suppliers, to ensure project milestones and commitments are met.
- Assist in developing project plans, train project owners in software and soft skills, and promote effective project management practices.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Other
- Education: Bachelor's Degree, Project Management Certification
- Experience: 5+ years in project management, experience leading procurement projects and PMO/system management, familiarity with procurement and sourcing processes.
- Skills: Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office, facilitation, analytical, interpersonal, team building, and conflict resolution skills.
