Responsibilities

  • Design custom implantable devices and surgical instruments, creating accurate 2D and 3D CAD models from clinical and anatomical data.
  • Own the technical development of custom cases from concept to final release, supported by the Product Development team.
  • Translate clinical and functional requirements into robust engineering solutions, ensuring design input consistency and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation needed for product development and regulatory submissions.
  • Engage directly with surgeons and sales teams to review and refine case designs.
  • Provide on‑site surgical support for custom‑made products when required.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate and optimize designs.
  • Verify and approve anatomical segmentation outputs, ensuring alignment with design standards.
  • Operate in the operating room to provide technical support.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure on‑time delivery, cost control, and high quality standards.
  • Act as a technical mentor for junior engineers, supporting their development.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing team efficiency.

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of mechanical design experience (2D/3D CAD) within medical devices, implantable products, or custom‑made solutions.
  • Exposure to regulated product development environments (e.g., ISO 13485, MDR) is a plus.
  • Experience interacting with clinical stakeholders is highly valued.

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
  • Prior experience with Siemens NX considered a plus.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and material selection.
  • Comfortable with technical documentation and structured development processes.
  • Knowledge of FEA tools is an advantage.
