Position Overview
British American Tobacco Italy has an exciting opportunity for a Production Cell Manager in Trieste.
Annual gross salary pay range: €56,300 – €70,434 (CLA level B1‑A1).
The Production Cell Manager ensures the Trieste factory delivers the required production plan on time, fully complying with legal compliance, EHS, quality and the BAT Global Operating Model standards. The role includes delivering continuous improvement, cost optimisation and driving cultural change and practices in the Production area (SMD and PMD), introducing and developing the Integrated Work System.
Responsibilities
Drive and improve key production KPIs such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Mean Time Between Failures, unplanned downtime, waste, and manufacturing cost.
Ensure full compliance with the BAT Global Operating Model, legal requirements (EU/local excise, customs, waste, safety, labour), and internal procedures.
Guarantee production capacity and resource allocation in alignment with Scheduling and Maintenance, ensuring efficient use of production and engineering resources.
Maintain and enforce operational standards (cleaning, inspections, repairs, brand changes, materials handling, issue management) across production lines.
Manage excise compliance processes, including record‑keeping, correct SKU classification, required licences/authorisations, and accurate duty reporting.
Lead safety and environmental protection, proactively identifying risks, enforcing Decree 81/08 requirements, and ensuring safe behaviours across the shop floor.
Provide clear leadership and people development, including performance management, skills‑matrix ownership, succession planning, and team coaching (Servant Leadership).
Implement and sustain the Integrated Work System, driving continuous loss analysis, benchmarking, zero‑loss initiatives, and ensuring adherence to standards up to Level 3 maturity.
Collaborate cross‑functionally (Scheduling, Logistics, Quality, HR, Finance, Engineering) to deliver factory goals and support smooth production operations.
Lead continuous improvement and project execution, optimising resources, driving machine‑level performance improvements, and delivering new technologies and lines on time and in full.
Qualifications
Five years of proven experience in quality control or production industry.
Excellent knowledge of the factory setting, specifically production.
Excellent knowledge of raw materials and their impact on the product.
Proven experience in leading teams.
Good knowledge of statistical methods, SAP, local MES (Upis), LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), GLQ, and an understanding of technical methods and tools for continuous improvement (UPS).
Good proficiency in spoken and written English and Italian.
Bachelor degree in Technical Area, Engineering, Applied Sciences or similar.
