ABOUT THE ROLE – Project Engineer – Structural & Pre-Outfitting (Shipbuilding)

We are looking for a Project Engineer – Structural & Pre-Outfitting to join a high-profile yacht new build project .

The resource will be the dedicated onsite technical representative , supporting the Project Management team during the pre-outfitting phase of a 55m motor yacht , ensuring quality, progress, and compliance of structural and technical works ahead of outfitting activities.

The role requires strong onsite presence and daily coordination with shipyard teams, surveyors, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the progress and quality of pre-outfitting works related to hull, superstructure, and technical areas.
• Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, class requirements, and shipyard standards .
• Inspect and verify completion of structural works, piping installation, metal preparation, coating systems, and insulation before release to next phases.
• Identify defects, non-conformities, and interface clashes that may impact future outfitting or schedule.
• Track production sequencing and support area readiness for outfitting activities .
• Monitor readiness of technical spaces, compartments, and construction areas prior to handover.
• Coordinate daily with shipyard teams, subcontractors, and third-party surveyors .
• Provide clear and structured reporting on progress, risks, quality issues, and corrective actions .
• Support punch list management, milestone reviews, and close-out activities .

• Hull and superstructure structural completion
• Steel and aluminium fabrication quality
• Welding inspections and visual follow-up
• Penetrations, inserts, supports, and foundations
• Pre-outfitting piping installation and routing
• Pipe supports and interface coordination
• Surface preparation, primer application, and coating systems
• Corrosion protection and tank treatment
• Thermal and acoustic insulation works
• Coordination between structure, piping, insulation, and outfitting trades
• Readiness of construction areas for equipment installation and outfitting phases

Requirements

• Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in shipbuilding, yacht construction, or offshore/marine projects .
• Proven experience in hull construction, structural works, pre-outfitting, or production supervision .
• Strong knowledge of metallic structures, piping systems, coating and insulation processes .
• Good understanding of shipyard construction sequencing and trade interfaces .
• Experience working onsite in shipyard environments .
• Strong inspection mindset, attention to detail, and reporting discipline .
• Fluent in English (written and spoken) ; Italian is a plus.
