Projects Director - Data center

Our Client is one of the major General Contractor in Europe with more than 1B€ turnover.

Leading player in the turn key projects, from design to construction in the infrastructure and buildings sector.

It offers solutions from the financial planning, land evaluation, design and construction within industrial, logistics and data center sector.

To boost the Data Center Business Unit , today We are looking for an interesting role, a Projects Director – who will be reporting to the Technical Director and will be responsible for the delivery of the entrusted projects, from the pre-design up to the construction and for the profitability of the operations in line with contractual agreements and the objectives of the firm.

A real team leader, he/she has a privileged function of maintaining the customer relationship and managing his team composed of (Senior) Project Managers

KEY RESPONSABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

• Provides technical support to business development teams during prospecting activities
• Meets clients with the business development team in order to understand their needs and the specificities of their project (nature of the site, its users, the investors, …)
• Proposes technical and cost-effective solutions adapted to the costumer’s needs
• Prepares and optimises the design of the building and its technical solutions
• Estimates the design’s costs and prepare a preliminary time schedule
• Launchs the preparation of all the necessary documents required for the feasibility studies and including the verification of all the bills of quantities, including M&E
• Defines the offer and manage the finalising and briefing with the business development teams and the Design & Estimating department
• Is the principal point of contact for the customer and the company’s representative for the duration of the project

Contract:

• Takes part in contract approval with the business development team and in coordination with the legal and finance departments
• As the contract’s director, approves all its details
• Prepare all technical and administrative documents (bonds, insurance certificates, …)

Construction:

• Builds the project team ensuring that team members have the skills needed to fully complete the project
• Leads the project team (design office, technical inspection consultants, sub-contractors, Health & Safety coordinator, …)
• Guarantees the realisation of the project in accordance with the contractual agreements:
• Monitors the realisation of the different work progress’ (customer relations, schedule adjustments, …)
• Produces the technical summary of the different building trades’ interventions (construction system, networks, geotechnical, …)

Cost and construction schedule management:

• Takes charge of the financial study of the project at the commercial state in order to ensure a level of gross profit margin and net profit margin consistent with the objectives
• Participates to the contract committees with the management
• Is co-responsible for the sale-purchase contract by setting the project’s cost price and by elaborating the sales price with the business development team
• Signs the Sale-purchase paper with the Business Development representative and the Design & Estimating representative

Team Management:

In coordination with the Country Manager or the Technical Director, the Project Director takes charge of all or part of the team management of the Project Assistants and/or (Senior) Project Managers entrusted to him.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in civil engineering and urbanism or similar

Experience of 5 to 10 years in the construction area on private markets (TKP or EPCM contract depending on the assignment to a BU)

Languages spoken: fluent English necessary
