Position: Purchasing Manager (Gala Apples)
Location: Val Venosta (Vinschgau Valley), Val d’Adige (Adige Valley) and Bassa Atesina, Italy
Type of contract: Employment contract or B2B cooperation
Salary: up to approx. EUR 4,000-5,000 per month (depending on experience) + performance bonus
We are looking for a professional responsible for supporting the procurement of Gala apples in key apple-growing regions in Northern Italy and cooperating closely with growers and logistics partners. The role involves direct contact with fruit producers, coordination of apple sourcing, and operational support related to storage and distribution.
Key responsibilities
- sourcing and purchasing Gala apples directly from growers
- building and maintaining relationships with fruit producers in major apple-growing regions
- negotiating prices and commercial terms with suppliers
- cooperating with packhouses and cold storage facilities for fruit storage
- monitoring fruit quality and compliance with customer requirements
- supporting transport organization and fruit dispatch operations
- monitoring market availability and supply conditions
Requirements
- university degree in agriculture, agronomy, or a related field
- experience in the fruit or fresh produce industry, particularly apples
- understanding of the apple-growing market and cooperation with growers
- basic knowledge of fruit storage and cold chain standards
- strong communication and negotiation skills
- good command of English
- driving license (category B) and willingness to travel within the region
