Responsibilities

  • Analyse how economic growth in Kenya has translated into poverty reduction and child poverty outcomes at national and county (sub‑national) levels, and identify policy options to promote more inclusive and child‑centred growth.
  • Lead the research on the study, including evidence review to identify the most appropriate analytical approach, data compilation, data analysis, and drafting of a working paper and brief.
  • Provide deliverables that include a comprehensive working paper and a concise briefing brief.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Economics, Public/Social Policy or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in applied econometrics.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting empirical analyses on the relationship between economic growth and poverty.
  • Strong project management skills: ability to organise own work and conduct a research project with limited supervision and meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience and familiarity with national and sub‑national analysis.
    • Experience in policy‑oriented work.
    • Experience working in low‑ or middle‑income countries.
    • Ability to work in a multi‑cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective relationships within and outside the organisation.
