Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test firmware for industrial protection devices and communication modules.
• Collaborate with global teams to define firmware requirements and share technical expertise.
• Drive continuous improvement in firmware development and cybersecurity practices.
• Contribute to intellectual property creation and patent protection for ABB.

Qualifications

• Highly skilled in C/C++/Python/assembler backed by solid computer science fundamentals.
• Solid knowledge of structured development processes, from requirement analysis to documentation.
• At least 3 years of experience designing firmware for embedded industrial applications on microcontrollers/microprocessors.
• Enhanced knowledge of development infrastructure: Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, version control (git), build systems, unit testing, debug probes, oscilloscopes, and related tools.
• Exposure to cyber‑security concepts and understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, IEC61850, Profibus, CAN bus) is a plus.
• Passionate about teamwork and innovation.
• BSc/MSc in Information, Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a comparable field.
• Proficient in English and Italian communication.
