Job Description
As an R&D Mechanical Engineer , you will contribute to the design, development, and validation of air‑insulated high-voltage disconnectors , with a primary focus on the structural and mechanical components of the product.
You will work closely with R&D Project Managers, supporting both new product introduction (NPI) and cost‑out initiatives , ensuring robust, optimized, and reliable mechanical solutions.
Product Development & Validation
- Support R&D Project Managers in product development and validation activities.
- Produce and manage 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.
- Investigate alternative materials and explore innovative manufacturing technologies.
- Perform mechanical validation of main disconnector components, including calculations and FEM structural analysis .
- Conduct cost analyses and propose manufacturing optimization improvements.
Testing & Certification
- Participate in type test witnessing — both in internal accredited laboratories and external global facilities.
- Prepare test procedures, test instructions, and technical documentation.
- Support the emission of type test dossiers for internal or external stakeholders.
- Perform risk assessments, including FMEA analysis .
Support to R&D Operations
- Contribute to daily coordination of R&D activities in collaboration with the R&D Leader.
- Ensure effective communication with internal teams: R&D, Standardization, Laboratory, Engineering, and Sales.
- Engage with external stakeholders: customers and accredited laboratories.
PROFILE
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in mechanical engineering or within an R&D department.
- Knowledge and practical experience with 2D and 3D CAD software .
- Basic understanding of FEM analysis .
- Good command of English (written and spoken).
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and production technologies.
