Fixed‑term positions for Researchers and Technologists
Fondazione Edmund Mach (FEM) is an internationally‑recognized research centre, a technical and vocational agricultural highschool and a technology transfer consultancy, located in the Province of Trento, north of Italy. The campus includes experimental farms throughout the province, expanding possibilities for field research, experimentation and teaching. The FEM Research and Innovation Centre (CRI) pursues basic and applied scientific research, developing biotechnologies, and promoting innovation in agriculture, alpine ecology, biodiversity conservation, and forest, environmental and food sciences.
We offer approximately 30 fixed‑term positions per year depending on funding, project requirements and organisational needs.
Positions
Junior – First Stage Researcher
(Master’s degree)
Post‑Doctoral – Recognised Researcher
Junior or Post‑Doctoral Technologist
to design, manage, and develop laboratory protocols, complex data analyses, infrastructures, facilities, databases, or instrumentation needed for basic or applied research activities.
Main research areas and work duties
Agrosystems and Bioeconomy
Designing and conducting research on sustainable agricultural systems, crop production and plant breeding.
Contributing to the development of technologies and protocols for crop genomics, digital agriculture, automation, and precision farming.
Analyzing and optimising agricultural supply chains with a focus on sustainability.
Coordinating field trials and supporting research at the experimental farm.
Biodiversity, Ecology and the Environment
Designing and conducting research on forest, alpine, aquatic, and agro‑environmental species and ecosystems.
Contributing to the development of technologies and protocols for remote‑sensing, genetics, genomics, and movement ecology.
Analysing the impact of climate and anthropogenic changes on plant, animal and microorganism biodiversity, behaviour, physiology, and ecosystem function.
Developing population models and models of biotic/environmental interactions.
Food and Nutrition
Designing and conducting research on food quality, traceability, and safety.
Contributing to the development of technologies and protocols for metabolomic and physico‑chemical analyses of food matrices.
Assessment of the sensory and nutritional properties of food products.
Salary and selection process Gross annual salary (before taxes): €41,245.00 for Junior positions and €47,182.01 for post‑doctoral positions.
The selection process includes an online multiple‑choice test to create a shortlist of 200 suitable candidates. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed and hired based on merit. Candidates are required to pay a non‑refundable administrative fee of €30 prior to submitting the application.
