Our client, in the Petrochem Industry, is seeking a Responsible Care Manager to join their team.
Position Summary
The Responsible Care Manager is accountable for overseeing, directing, and leading the Responsible Care Department, which includes Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality (HSSEQ) and Process Safety functions. The manager develops and implements local Responsible Care strategies and policies, manages resources within the department, and collaborates with other departments and the Global Manufacturing Responsible Care Team (GMRCT).
The Responsible Care Manager is a member of the Plant Management Team (PMT) and Site Management Team (SMT), contributing to site-specific objectives and organizational effectiveness. Success is measured through leadership, employee development, and delivering world-class HSSEQ and Process Safety services aligned with corporate and local policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Responsible Care resources to meet plant and corporate HSSEQ targets safely and cost-effectively.
- Develop and implement systems ensuring safe work practices for employees and contractors.
- Monitor and improve work procedures and practices to enhance Responsible Care performance.
- Ensure compliance with HSSEQ regulations and address any compliance gaps.
- Support Responsible Care audits and follow up on identified improvements.
- Prepare reports and data for government agencies as required.
- Train teams for effective emergency response.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risks.
- Represent the company in industry initiatives and associations such as CAER, LCA, GBRIA, OEP, CAP.
- Analyze Responsible Care performance data and take corrective actions.
- Contribute to capital planning for HSSEQ improvements.
- Manage departmental budgets within approved limits.
- Ensure departmental compliance with policies, standards, and procedures.
- Maintain ACC Responsible Care certification at Geismar.
- Foster a strong Responsible Care culture by leading by example.
- Participate actively in Plant and Site Management Teams.
- Handle incidents effectively to minimize harm.
- Collaborate during turnarounds and outages to develop and execute Responsible Care plans.
- Support global engineering, technology, and project initiatives.
- Assess risks related to manufacturing changes in collaboration with operational and technical departments.
- Participate in the Global Manufacturing Responsible Care Team (GMRCT).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited institution.
- At least 10 years of manufacturing plant or EHS experience.
- Preferably 5+ years of management experience in manufacturing or EHS industries.
- Deep knowledge of HSSEQ and PSM standards, policies, and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and employee motivation skills.
- Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in common computer applications.
