As an Amazon Robotics Solutions Design Engineer, you will work with talented engineers on the design and development of robotic fulfillment systems globally. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing high-performance physical systems, strong technical problem solving ability, excellent project management skills, and an internal motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. Key Responsibilities
- Design, validate, and deliver end-to-end robotic sortation solutions across Amazon’s worldwide fulfillment and transportation networks.
- Partner with customers, program teams, and product teams to design safe, simple, and scalable solutions that are easy to build, deploy, and operate.
- Reinvent and simplify solution design processes, entering the brownfield retrofit solution space with the goal of defect‑free design.
- Leverage a deep understanding of dock processes, material flow, and robotic technologies to innovate advanced concept designs and applications for dock automation.
- Use simulation to design, validate, and iterate on solution designs to meet or exceed performance requirements.
- Evaluate and create physical processing and material storage solutions using innovative technology, robotics, and data analytics to meet product flow requirements.
- Identify and analyze key operational and financial metrics as part of program and feature selection to drive smart decisions.
- Coordinate and collaborate with systems and operations engineering teams to develop product features and optimize performance.
- Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously; influence, negotiate, and communicate with partners, contractors, and vendors.

About the Team
The AR Sortation Solutions Vertical delivers and maintains high‑performing package sortation solutions throughout the network. The team collaborates closely with customers and other verticals, core engineering and orgs, including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Tech Ops, GSS, Manipulation, Mobility, Core Software, Deployment Engineering, WWDE, Sort Tech, and Construction. New sortation solutions have achieved GA status over the past 3 years. The focus areas include maintaining deployed systems, delivering performance optimizations and cost savings, and pursuing new product initiatives ranging from incremental to high‑risk BAG programs.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any discipline) or a related field, or 2+ years Amazon experience.
- Experience with business/technical software such as MS Excel, Revit, AutoCAD, BIM360, FlexSim, Tableau, SQL, and commercial off‑the‑shelf technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated use of analytical skills to solve complex engineering problems.
- Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high‑speed manufacturing.
- Experience with process design based on Lean Principles.
- Proficiency using business/technical software such as MS Excel, Revit, AutoCAD, BIM360, FlexSim, Tableau, SQL.
- Ability to travel 10% globally.

Salary: 78,400.00 – 137,100.00 USD annually (USA, MA, North Reading & USA, MI, Detroit). The package includes sign‑on payments and RSUs. Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
