Sales and Market Access Director
Descrizione dell'offerta
Founded in 2025 and headquartered in Cork, Ireland, Evumed Limited is a dynamic generic and biopharmaceutical company dedicated to advancing affordable healthcare. Through robust global partnerships and support from our parent company, we develop and distribute generic, branded, and biologic medicines. Our mission is to combine innovation with accessibility to improve the quality of life for individuals worldwide.
About the Role
This is a pivotal leadership position in our start-up phase, responsible for driving revenue generation and securing optimal market access in the Italian pharmaceutical landscape. With generics and biosimilars playing a critical role in controlling SSN expenditure, the role demands deep expertise in regional and hospital tendering, contracting, pricing negotiations with AIFA, and strategic sales leadership.
The Sales & Market Access Director will lead participation in public tenders, particularly regional and hospital-level procurements, negotiate contracts with Aziende Sanitarie Locali (ASLs), hospitals, and other key customers, ensure alignment with AIFA pricing and reimbursement processes and develop differentiated sales strategies across our portfolio: price-competitive generics, value-based biosimilars, and innovation-led branded products.
In addition to building and managing a high-performing sales team, the role includes representing the company through active membership and leadership contributions in key industry associations such as Assogenerici and Farmindustria, to influence policy, shape market dynamics and enhance our competitive positioning.
This position offers the unique opportunity to shape commercial strategy from inception, collaborate closely with the Country Manager on governance, risk, and commercial strategy, and target ambitious early milestones and market share growth in priority therapeutic areas within the first year.
Key Responsibilities
Tendering & Contracting (Core Focus)
- Lead the end-to-end tendering process for regional and hospital procurements across Italy, including participation in CONSIP-supported frameworks, regional Dynamic Purchasing Systems (DPS), and direct hospital/ASLs tenders for generics, biosimilars, and applicable branded products.
- Prepare compelling bids, coordinate cross-functional input (regulatory, supply chain, medical), and secure high-volume commitments at competitive pricing while respecting multi-award framework agreements.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts with hospitals, regional health authorities (Regioni), ASLs, and other institutional customers to optimize pricing, volume, and supply agreements.
- Monitor tender outcomes, manage post-award implementation, and address any supply or performance issues to maintain strong customer relationships.
Market Access & Industry Leadership
- Develop and execute robust market access strategies aligned with AIFA pricing & reimbursement processes, HTA evaluations, innovation assessments, and SSN priorities.
- Ensure full compliance with AIFA requirements, including price linkage rules and managed entry agreements where relevant, and provide risk assessments and strategic input on the branded portfolio.
- Represent the company at senior levels in Assogenerici and Farmindustria (or equivalent associations), taking on leadership roles where appropriate to advocate for the off-patent sector and influence policy related to biosimilar uptake and generics procurement.
Sales Strategy & Business Planning
- Define and implement the overall Italian sales strategy in collaboration with the Country Manager, with clear segmentation: price-focused for generics, value-focused for biosimilars, and innovation/differentiation-led for novel brands.
- Conduct thorough market analysis to identify opportunities, forecast demand, and prioritize therapeutic areas for rapid penetration.
- Lead annual business planning, including revenue forecasting, budgeting for promotions/trade terms, and setting aggressive yet achievable targets for market share growth and revenue.
Sales Management & Team Leadership
- Build, lead, and motivate a high-performing sales team, establishing clear KPIs.
- Drive performance through coaching, regular reviews, incentive programs, and data-driven insights.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with the Country Manager, Operations, Medical, Regulatory, and Finance to ensure seamless execution from market entry to sustained growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven senior leadership experience (10+ years) in Italian pharmaceutical sales and market access, ideally with a strong track record in generics, biosimilars, and/or hospital channels.
- Deep expertise in Italian public tendering processes and contract negotiations in a highly price-sensitive, procurement-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of Italian market access dynamics, including AIFA pricing & reimbursement negotiations, HTA processes, simplified procedures, and price linkage rules.
- Experience in industry associations or policy advocacy is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute commercial strategies in competitive, tender-driven markets with rapid market share gains.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills at senior levels (AIFA, Regioni, ASLs, hospitals, wholesalers, regulators, associations).
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and commercial acumen.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MSc) or relevant professional qualification desirable.
Key Competencies
- Entrepreneurial mindset suited to a start-up environment – hands‑on, agile, and results‑oriented.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire teams and build relationships quickly.
- High integrity, with a commitment to compliance and ethical business practices.
- Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable operating in ambiguity during the company’s early growth phase.
