HORIEN Salt Battery Solutions (formerly FZSoNick), with the production and marketing of nickel-sodium chloride storage systems, is the first player in the world to offer a safe and completely sustainable energy storage and backup solution: from the supply of raw materials, zero environmental emissions, absence of toxic materials, to maximum recyclability of components.
For our US sales office, we are looking for a Sales Engineer based in Houston, Texas.
The person will be responsible for generating and developing new business opportunities for advanced battery systems across North America, with primary focus on oil & gas, critical mission and industrial power applications.
The Sales Engineer will evaluate customer technical requirements, architect appropriate solutions, and ensure alignment with performance, reliability, and lifecycle metrics.
JOB DUTIES:
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities requiring advanced battery technologies, ensuring applications meet electrical, mechanical, thermal, and operational specifications
- Interpret customer RFPs, RFQs, and technical documentation to prepare accurate, technically compliant proposals
- Conduct system-level evaluations including load analysis, discharge profiles, duty cycles, backup time calculations, environmental considerations, and integration constraints
- Collaborate with Application Engineering to validate solution configurations, confirm system performance, and support customer design reviews
- Present technical product capabilities, system architectures, and test data to engineering teams, procurement groups, and technical decision-makers
- Develop technical relationships with power engineers, network architects, reliability teams, and operations engineers at target accounts
- Provide technical training, product demonstrations, and detailed performance explanations to support design‑in and spec‑in activities
- Troubleshoot system-level issues in collaboration with engineering teams and provide root‑cause insight to customers and internal stakeholders
- Monitor battery technology trends (chemistries, safety standards, thermal stability, lifecycle modeling, charge algorithms) and translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Perform competitive product assessments, including specification comparison, performance benchmarking, and TCO/ROI modeling
- Provide technical recommendations for new product improvements, feature enhancements, and future roadmap planning based on field feedback and performance requirements
- Ensure solutions comply with industry standards and certification requirements (e.g., IEEE, UL, Telcordia/GR‑1089, GR‑4228, NEBS)
- Support customer testing and qualification processes, including factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), environmental testing, and validation of key performance metrics
- Review and interpret testing procedures, cycle life data, and certification reports to guide customer adoption
- Support the development of North American market strategies, emphasizing technical differentiators and application‑specific value
- Produce technical sales reports summarizing engineering updates, field performance, competitive analysis, and major customer activities
- Drive technical aspects of OEM account development, including qualification processes, reliability evaluations, and integration plans
- Coordinate technical participation in trade shows, standards committees, and industry events.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or +5 years workplace experience with electrical or electronic job role)
- Minimum 5 years of sales or technical customer‑facing experience in industrial sales
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the DC power industry or related engineering discipline
- Strong understanding of DC power systems, backup power architectures, and battery system integration
- Technical knowledge of oil & gas, critical mission, and industrial power backup and UPS use cases
- Familiarity with key battery performance metrics (internal resistance, charge/discharge profiles, thermal behavior, cycle life modeling, SOC/SOH algorithms)
- Ability to analyze and communicate complex engineering data (test reports, performance curves, safety data, compliance documentation)
- Experience with solutions involving ROI/TCO models based on efficiency, maintenance cycles, and operational savings
- Excellent technical communication skills with ability to translate engineering concepts to commercial audiences
- Ability to travel at least 70% within North America; international travel as needed.
Salary: 80.000 - 120.000 $/yr
