About the Role / Team :

We are seeking an experienced Sales Engineer to support our Sales team in Italy. The role involves delivering high-quality pre-sales technical support and presentations that communicate value effectively to prospective buyers. As a product solution specialist for NETSCOUT Systems, the candidate will ensure the best possible technical solutions are provided. The primary focus will be supporting the Enterprise market.

The ideal candidate will have experience in both Service Assurance and Security, with a focus on Service Assurance.

Reporting to the SE Manager (DACH, NEUR, EEUR), the candidate will engage extensively with customers, understanding their needs and collaborating with the Sales team throughout the sales cycle. This role involves working closely with the Account Manager to identify and develop new business opportunities and strengthen relationships with both new and existing customers.

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with Account Managers and Regional Directors to develop business and technical strategies to maximize success.
  • Investigate prospect needs and develop strategies to win business.
  • Assist Sales Teams in tactical decision-making regarding sales opportunities.
  • Identify business challenges and offer attractive solutions.
  • Provide technical support using NETSCOUT’s best practices, including building relationships across customer IT silos, understanding their infrastructure, challenges, and projects.
  • Lead technical activities, including building relationships, documenting infrastructure, and understanding challenges.
  • Support sales in achieving targets by assessing and forecasting opportunities.
  • Create and deliver PoCs, manage bakeoffs, and conduct product demonstrations via onsite or remote presentations.
  • Explore user scenarios to discover upsell opportunities and understand customer needs.
  • Adapt to new situations, including working with multiple integrators on a customer network.
  • Travel within Italy and the region approximately 40-50%, carrying a laptop.
  • Based in Italy.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills :

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in IT or 7 years in a pre-sales, network, or application engineering role.
  • Experience working with customers to understand technical challenges and proposing solutions.
  • Proven success in pre-sales roles.
  • Strong networking and application background, with knowledge of Linux/Windows.
  • Regional business experience and cultural familiarity.
  • Technical skills in Cisco routing, switching, gateways, TCP/IP, SNMP, NetFlow, VoIP, LAN/WAN topologies, security, network infrastructure, and tools like Sniffer, HP/OV, IBM Tivoli, EMC SMARTS, ArcSight.
  • Experience with network performance management, fault/alert management, and product experience like nGenius.
  • Knowledge of operating systems (Linux, NT), certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE), SDN/NFV, virtualization, cloud environments.
  • Experience with RFI/RFP responses and security audits is a plus.
  • Formal sales training (e.g., Sandler, Siebel, Afterburner).
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field; MBA is a plus.
  • Formal presentation training.
