Hitachi Rail is looking for an experienced Sales Manager to drive business growth in the railway and urban transportation market. The role combines market development, customer engagement, bid support and cross-functional collaboration to help deliver winning solutions for our customers.

Accountabilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across domestic railway markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners and key stakeholders.
  • Support bid activities, including market engagement, opportunity qualification and commercial positioning.
  • Contribute to sales strategy, pipeline development and market analysis to support business growth.
  • Coordinate with engineering, bidding, finance and delivery teams to shape competitive and compliant solutions.
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events and business development initiatives.

Required Skills/ Knowledge

  • Proven experience, at least 3 years, in sales, business development or bid support within the railway, transportation or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong understanding of customer needs, market dynamics and commercial drivers.
  • Experience working with complex tenders, pre-bid activities or opportunity qualification processes.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical stakeholders to develop business opportunities.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint and Excel.

Desired Skills/ Knowledge

  • Experience in signalling, digital rail, operation control systems or turnkey transportation projects.
  • Knowledge of public procurement processes and contractual frameworks in the rail sector.

Education/Qualifications

  • Essential: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Economics or a related discipline.

Languages

  • Fluent Italian and professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Additional European languages would be considered an advantage.
