Senior AI Engineer – LLMs & Agentic Systems - Freelance

We’re looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join a high-impact AI consultancy working on advanced, real-world projects around LLMs and multi-agent systems .

This is a very hands-on role , focused on designing and building production-grade AI solutions, not demos or PoCs.

What you’ll work on:

• Designing and implementing agentic AI systems (planners, tool use, memory, orchestration)
• Building RAG pipelines in production (vector DBs, chunking strategies, retrieval & ranking)
• Developing APIs and services in Python
• Working with LLMs (OpenAI / Azure OpenAI / Anthropic / open-source) in real products
• Collaborating with other engineers and mentoring on architecture & best practices

Setup:

• Freelance collaboration with long-term perspective
• Hybrid model : initial onboarding on-site, then gradually moving towards remote
• Possible locations: Rome / Milan / Naples

Nice to have:

• Experience in AI / tech consulting environments
• Cloud architectures (especially Azure )
• MLOps / LLMOps
• Distributed systems & microservices

We’re looking for someone senior, autonomous, technically strong, and comfortable taking ownership of complex systems.
