The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Overview of the role

The Energy Transition team within our Energy unit is looking for Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineers to strengthen the existing C&I team; providing advisory and design capabilities across a variety of power and energy projects types and technologies in a growing portfolio, supporting our clients in the UK and across Europe as part of the energy transition.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Working on projects in a variety of stages of maturity, including Owner’s Engineer, Design Review, Feasibility Studies, FEED Studies and Detailed Design. There will be opportunities for site work during project development, construction and commissioning
  • Preparation of C&I deliverables such as equipment specifications, control philosophies, calculations, equipment datasheets, loop drawings, cable block diagrams, general arrangement drawings, cable routing drawings, reviewing P&IDs and other process information
  • Participation in safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA)
  • Coordinate C&I delivery on multi-disciplinary project, interfacing with other disciplines, project engineer, project manager and customer
  • Working with the project team to develop cost-effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems to create practical designs based on these solutions
  • Working with equipment vendors on developing designs of equipment packages and participating in technical evaluations of vendor designs
  • Support in developing proposals and bids for the C&I discipline and contributing to multi-disciplinary proposals
  • Provide technical leadership and governance
  • A commitment to promoting health, safety, and wellbeing in the workplace

Candidate specification – Essential

Essential:

  • A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject
  • Chartered Engineer (or in the process of obtaining) and Member of relevant Engineering Institute
  • Significant post graduate experience in C&I technical delivery
  • The ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of C&I deliverablesAbility to adapt and work on multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of design and construction of power and energy projects
  • Proven understanding of the design process and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts as well as experienced in producing calculations
  • Detailed working knowledge of national and international codes and standards used within the power and energy sector
  • Experience of working with design software packages such as Autocad, Aveva, etc
  • Knowledge of OEM control systems such as Siemens, ABB, Emerson, etc
  • Experience of working with clients and contractors with a diverse range of objectives in achieving a technical solution

Desirable

  • Experience within Owner’s Engineer or technical advisory sector
