Samsonite, a global leader in travel and lifestyle products, is expanding its product offering into the non-travel category, with a focus on creating **feminine and functional** lines of business-organised backpacks, briefcases, and pouches for women.

We are seeking a SENIOR DESIGNER LEATHERGOODS WOMEN - FREELANCE to spearhead the design of this collection, emphasizing functionality, elegance, and contemporary business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead the creative design process for a line of casual-oriented backpacks, shoulder bags, and pouches.

- Stay ahead of the latest trends in women’s accessories, business organisation, and lifestyle products, applying them to the design process.

- Create innovative, thoughtful designs that combine aesthetics with utility, ensuring that the products are both functional and stylish.

- Work closely with the Samsonite product development team, marketing, and material suppliers to bring concepts to life.

- Oversee the development of prototypes, ensuring that the materials, craftsmanship, and functionality align with Samsonite’s high standards.

- Incorporate sustainable materials and practices where possible, aligning with Samsonite’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

REQUIREMENTS

- 5+ years of experience in designing women’s accessories, with a focus on business or organizational products (backpacks, briefcases, pouches).

- A strong portfolio showcasing your design expertise, particularly in women’s business accessories or lifestyle products.

- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop). Knowledge of 3D modeling software will be considered a plus, as sleek zipper pulls, perfectly integrated logos, and thoughtfully constructed hardware will be key to the success of the line.

- A keen eye for detail and an ability to merge style with functionality, creating designs that meet the practical needs of business professionals.

- Knowledge of materials and production processes.

- Experience in design firms from Northern European countries, along with extensive knowledge of the German market, will be highly valued.

Location: Remote, with regular visit to the Italian head Office, based in Milan

Duration: Project-Based

Compensation: Competitive and based on experience
