Amazon's "Last Mile" Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program is responsible for delivering packages to households and businesses. Our finance team supports this expanding business by building a portfolio of delivery stations, vans, and technology to deliver packages on time, often next day. We work with models including Amazon Flex, Amazon Lockers, and more to deliver smiles to customers. You will help build one of the largest carriers on the planet.
We are hiring a Senior Financial Analyst, Amazon Transportation Claims and Insurance to support Amazon’s corporate claims focusing on Middle Mile. This fast-paced, high-visibility role involves stakeholders across Middle Mile operations, Safety, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and Risk. There will be many opportunities to make a big impact.
This role is responsible for month-end close, weekly forecasting, planning, and reporting for Middle Mile on-road corporate claims and admin costs. The role partners with the Global Risk team to understand claim development trends, including case reserves and claim closure strategies that affect NA Operations P&L and balance sheet reserves. It includes understanding and articulating business trends in Middle Mile and Amazon Transportation, analyzing cost drivers, and supporting data-driven decision-making. The role also drives process improvement in claims allocation methodology with Middle Mile Finance and consolidates financial data for planning cycles. It includes leading strategic initiatives, developing claim analytics to improve forecasting accuracy, contributing to leadership Business Review documents, and focusing on root causes of claims and safety incident reduction initiatives.
Success in this role requires strong communication skills and executive presence to interface with finance and non-finance leaders across multiple lines of business and influence without authority. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and financial modeling skills, stakeholder management experience, and expertise in conducting thorough analyses of large datasets.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify basic control risks, evaluate impact, propose changes, and implement improvements to remediate gaps.
- Deliver weekly/monthly financial close. Use financial systems and advanced MS Excel functions to work with large data sets. Produce plans, forecasts, budgets, and consolidations.
- Work with multiple data sources. Identify data quality issues, determine root causes, escalate discrepancies, and collaborate to deliver solutions.
- Communicate data clearly (written and verbal), tailoring style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues.
- Identify and implement solutions to resolve, improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance processes.
- Manage time effectively: prioritize work, meet deadlines, and seek feedback from management.
- Pursue self-development within the Finance Community; participate in events and projects and share knowledge within and outside the team.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture and act as an effective influencer to new team members as an indicator of operations excellence.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or CPA.
- Knowledge of Tableau.
- Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).

Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
